Overview
Why our hydraulic range
For two to six floors, hydraulics remain the practical answer. The load goes into the pit rather than the roof, so there is no overhead machine structure and the building takes less structural design effort.
We use single- and telescopic-ram configurations with soft-start valves for a ride that is difficult to distinguish from a modern traction lift at these travels.

Direct or side-acting rams
Single-stage, telescopic or side-acting jack arrangements chosen to suit pit depth, travel and available shaft space.
Soft-start valve control
Proportional valves ramp pressure smoothly so starts and stops are gentle even under full load — a big advantage for freight duty.
Compact power pack
The tank, pump and valve block sit in a small cabinet that can be located up to 10 m from the shaft, including on a lower floor.
Gravity lowering
On power failure a hand valve lowers the car to the nearest landing under gravity — simple, reliable rescue with no batteries required.

Are hydraulic lifts more expensive to run?
They draw more power on the up trip and almost none going down. For low travel and low-to-moderate cycle counts the difference is small; for busy high-rise duty we would specify traction instead.
